Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Mini Grant Funds

Community mini-grants are available for cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention programs and activities. Funds are available to agencies and community groups through the Genesee County Health Department Worksite and Community Health Promotion Program (WCHP).

Any agency or group desiring to lower cardiovascular disease risks in their community should apply. Residents who will benefit from grants awarded include: people of color, smokers, overweight individuals, those with high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, and people with sedentary lifestyles. Other individuals with no apparent risk now could later become victims of heart disease and stroke.

Agencies or groups may apply for funds to support any proven or innovative program that creates awareness or reduces risks for CVD. An informational meeting to discuss previous programs and this year’s funding will be held at the Genesee County Health Department, McCree North Site, 115 E. Pierson Road, on August 16, 2001, at 11:00 a.m. The deadline for grant applications is September 7, 2001. For more information regarding the mini-grants or the WCHP Program, contact Jamie Snead, WCHP Coordinator, at the Genesee County Health Department, (810) 785-4821; or Tujuana Cockrell, at (810) 785-4820.
