Yourself
Mothers: take care of yourself on Mother’s Day. Get a yearly
mammogram starting at 40 years of age and a Pap smear every one to
three years. Breast and cervical cancer are diseases that can be
identified and treated in their early stages.
The Genesee County Health Department offers a FREE mammogram,
Pap smear, breast exam and pelvic exam for those who qualify. To
qualify, a woman must be 40 years or older and of moderate income,
with or without insurance. Exams take place at three different
locations and are conducted by female healthcare providers. Call
the Genesee County Breast & Cervical Cancer Screening Program,
at (810) 257-3840, for an appointment and to learn more about this
life-saving program.
