Re: SPEAK to your HEALTH! Community Survey
This fall marks the beginning of a unique community-wide effort to
track the health of Flint and Genesee County residents. The SPEAK to your
HEALTH! Community Survey, sponsored by the Prevention Research Center of
Michigan and the Genesee County Health Department, will collect important
information on an annual basis about health status and quality of life for
Genesee County residents. 1800 county residents will be randomly selected
to participate in the survey. Residents chosen will be asked about a
variety of health issues, including access to health care, diet, activity,
neighborhood safety, and more.
“The SPEAK to your HEALTH! Community Survey can promote change in
ways that benefit the health of the community,” says Robert M. Pestronk,
Health Officer of the Genesee County Health Department, “the results
will enhance our ability to be an informed community partner.”
The Prevention Research Center of Michigan is funded by the U.S.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and is a partnership between
the Genesee County Health Department, the Greater Flint Health Coalition,
the University of Michigan School of Public Health and Flint campus, Faith
Access to Community Economic Development, Flint Odyssey House Health
Awareness Center, Genesee County Community Action Resource Department, and
the Flint/Genesee County Neighborhood Roundtable.
The survey will be administered by the University of Michigan –
Flint, Office of Research. “Knowledge is wealth, and this survey will
ensure that community residents’ voices are heard,” says Lee Bell,
President of the Flint/Genesee County Neighborhood Roundtable. “If you
are one of the lucky residents called, be sure to Speak to Your Health!”
