     Two New Priority Groups Now Able to Receive Flu Vaccine

     This updates the previous announcement.  In addition to the groups listed in yesterday’s announcement, all children ages 6 months to 23 months and household members and out-of-home caregivers of infants under the age of 6 months are now eligible to receive the vaccine.

The Genesee County Health Department will be conducting a flu clinic on               Friday, November 19, 2004 at:

·      University of Michigan Flint – Recreation Center
9:00 am – 3:00 pm (or until supplies are depleted)

The site is located on the University of Michigan-Flint campus near the intersection of Chavez Drive and Kearsley Street.

          Vaccine will now be available to the following individuals:

·        Genesee County residents 6-23 months of age;

·        Genesee County residents who are out-of-home caregivers and household contacts of infants under 6 months of age;

·        Genesee County health care workers providing direct care;

·        Genesee County residents who are pregnant;

·        Genesee County residents age 65 and older;

·        Genesee County residents with the following chronic illnesses:

Genesee County residents seeking vaccination should bring picture and age identification. Additionally, those with chronic illness should bring documentation of their chronic illness. Acceptable documentation can include either:

The cost of the flu vaccine is $18.00.  The clinic will accept Medicaid, Medicare Part B, M-Care and Private Health Plus.  Residents must have their card with them along with their social security number in order to bill their insurance.

Limited parking will be available in Lot A directly adjacent to the Recreation Center.  Residents should enter the building at the Northwest corner closest to Lot A.  Additional parking will be available in other parking lots on campus.  There will be several signs posted to help direct residents to the clinic site.  For further information regarding directions, see the University of Michigan - Flint campus map on the Genesee County Health Department web site at:  http://www.gchd.us, or call 810-257-3612.
