RE:
Breast and Cervical Cancer Awareness
Through
September 30, 2005
women who qualify for the Genesee County Health Department Breast and Cervical
Cancer Control Program (BCCCP) will receive a $10.00 gift card for groceries and
FREE cancer screening.
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women. If
diagnosed and treated early, the five year survival rate for breast cancer is
more than 92%. Mammograms can frequently detect cancer two years before a
lump can be felt. Yearly clinical breast exams and mammograms for women
age 40 and over are recommended. All women should perform monthly breast
exams.
Access to a life-saving test is a simple phone call away. The Genesee
County Health Department’s BCCCP offers FREE pap smears, pelvic exams, breast
exams and mammograms to women 40 and over who qualify. For more
information or to schedule an appointment for a screening, please contact the
Genesee County Health Department at (810) 237-4545.
