RE:                              Grand Blanc Student Death

Health Department officials continue to investigate the death of the Grand Blanc student who died on Friday, April 27, 2007. Post-mortem laboratory testing is being conducted and conclusive test results are pending.

In the on-going process of establishing a cause of death meningococcal meningitis (bacterial meningitis) as a cause of death has been ruled out.

The Health Department continues to recommend routine measures to reduce the spread of disease including practicing good hygiene, and to consult a medical professional if someone is experiencing unusual or severe symptoms.
