RE:    Health Department to Hold H1N1 Media Conference

    The Genesee County Health Department will hold a media conference Friday, October 23, 2009, on the topic of the 2009 flu season, including both the Novel H1N1 influenza A (swine flu) and seasonal flu. The forum will be held from 9:00 – 10:00 am in Conference Rooms 1 – 2 at the Health Department on the second floor of the McCree Courts and Human Services Building, 630 S. Saginaw Street, Flint, Michigan.

    The purpose of this media conference is to discuss the H1N1 response in Genesee County, especially as it relates to the high risk groups, including school age children and health care workers. Cases of influenza-like illness are increasing in Genesee County and it is important to provide clear, consistent, and helpful messages to the public as we go through this flu season.

    The conference will begin with an update on the current situation, and answers to commonly asked questions about H1N1 will be provided. For that reason participants are advised to arrive before the presentation. Additional questions from the media will be welcomed. Resources and fact sheets will be available at the end of the conference.
