Region 4 Michigan Care Improvement Registry
Public Act 91 of 2006, establishes the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR)
to include information about adult and childhood immunizations. It expands
the Michigan Childhood Immunization Registry previously established under Public
Act 540 of 1996.
MCIR organizes the state into six regions. Genesee County serves as the coordinating agency for Region
4, a nine-county region that covers the thumb of Michigan and includes Bay,
Genesee, Huron, Lapeer, Midland, Saginaw, Sanilac, Shiawassee, and Tuscola
Counties.
|
The goals of the MCIR are:
- To protect children, adults and communities from vaccine preventable diseases
- To decrease the number of missed opportunities to provide immunizations to people
- To maintain a centrally located accessible record and avoid unnecessary duplication of immunizations
- To increase Michigan's childhood and adult immunization rates
|

|
MCIR:
- Maintains a person's immunization history
- Provides a list of due and overdue immunizations
- Evaluates a person's immunization status to recommend future doses
- Generates reminder notices
- Generates recall notices for overdue immunizations
- Streamlines vaccination reporting
- Provides an immunization inventory module
- Provides different levels of security and restricted data access.
