Environmental Health Services
Air Quality Program
Staff respond to complaints and provide consultation to citizens on outdoor
air and indoor air quality problems. Educational materials covering a wide range
of air quality issues are available and distributed to residents. Currently,
presentations on air quality issues are being developed for both community
groups and students. In addition to serving individual air quality needs within
the community, staff are compiling data regarding outdoor air pollution.
Data regarding ambient air pollution concentrations are being collected and correlated with area hospital
childhood asthma admissions. Also, area industries that hold air emission permits from the Michigan Department of
Environmental Quality (MDEQ) are being mapped to determine if
their locations are related to asthma patient addresses.
